Point Calculation
For computation of grade-point-average
(GPA) and class rank, all classes are treated equally (un weighted).
Honors at graduation are determined at the end of the first semester
of the senior year (7th-semester GPA). The following un-weighted
GPA's are recognized at graduation:
3.80 - 4.00 Highest Honors, 3.50- 3.79 High Honors, 3.00-3.49
Honors
To
encourage students to take demanding advanced academic courses,
the University of California (UC) and the California State University
(CSU) will assign extra grade points in specific courses identified
as Honors or Advanced Placement in up to 8 semester courses taken
in the last 2 years of high school.
An
identified "Distinguished Scholar" student has maintained
a weighted GPA of 3.50 or higher for 5 consecutive semesters,
beginning in the 10th grade. The GPA is based on a UC acceptable
college preparatory curriculum and must include at least 2 honors/
AP courses each semester.
